Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has expressed concerns over FIFA’s appointment of Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić for Sunday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup final against Argentina.
Speaking ahead of the final, De la Fuente said he hopes the match official will apply the rules firmly and consistently, particularly given Argentina’s physical style of play.
The Spain manager stressed that the referee must not be lenient, insisting that strict officiating would help ensure the game is played fairly and remain under control.
De la Fuente, however, said his team remains focused on its preparations for the final and is determined to produce a strong performance against the defending champions.
Spain will face Argentina at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday as both teams battle for the 2026 FIFA World Cup title.
