Nigerian superstar Burna Boy (Damini Ogulu) has made history by becoming the first African artist to surpass 50 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

As of July 2026, the Grammy-winning artist reached over 50 million monthly listeners, breaking the previous African record and cementing his status as a global Afrobeats icon.

This milestone comes on the back of strong recent releases, including the popular World Cup anthem “Dai Dai” featuring Shakira, which has already amassed over 145 million streams. Burna Boy currently ranks among the top artists globally on the platform.

The achievement highlights Burna Boy’s massive international appeal and continued dominance in African music. Fans and industry watchers have celebrated the feat, describing it as a proud moment for African music on the global stage.
