The minister of works, Dave Umahi, has sharply criticized Peter Obi, the former Anambra State governor and 2023 presidential candidate, describing his approach to politics as “AI politics.”
In an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Umahi stated that no one is intimidated by Obi. He argued that Obi’s record as governor was poor, citing alleged failures in the health, education, and infrastructure sectors, including roads and airports.
“Peter Obi is playing AI politics. Nobody is scared of him,” Umahi said.
He further claimed that during Obi’s tenure as governor, the state invested money in a bank while owing contractors, and that the education sector relied heavily on special centres.
“Obi cannot even face me, talk more of facing President Bola Tinubu,” Umahi added.
The remarks come after Obi urged the Federal Government to prioritize the rehabilitation of dilapidated roads across the country rather than focusing primarily on new constructions.
Umahi’s comments reflect ongoing political tensions as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
