Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has predicted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would struggle to win the 2027 presidential election.

Lawal said NDC’s Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have stronger prospects of emerging victorious if they contest the election.

According to him, both Obi and Kwankwaso enjoy broader grassroots support and are better positioned to attract voters across different parts of the country.

He argued that the opposition would stand a better chance of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if it rallies behind a candidate with wider national appeal.

Lawal’s remarks come amid ongoing political consultations and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
