Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has accused opposition politicians of prioritising personal ambitions over the interests of Nigerians as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
In an interview on prime Time on Arise Television on Tuesday, Sani said the opposition had failed to demonstrate a serious commitment to offering a viable alternative to the ruling party.
The governor argued that many opposition leaders had spent the last three months switching between political parties in search of platforms that would better serve their individual aspirations.
He maintained that the frequent defections among opposition figures reflected a struggle for personal advantage rather than a coordinated effort to address national issues ahead of the 2027 polls.
“The current opposition in Nigeria, are they really fighting the ruling party because they believe in Nigeria?
“It’s all about their personal interests. These guys are not serious. They are not political parties based on what they believe in or what they can do.
“I don’t think they are organised as you are looking at them. You need to ask them to show you the evidence that the ruling party is fighting them because that’s what they keep saying.
“What’s their own agenda, ideology or philosophy? If you are in a political party, you have to sit down, build, organize and do whatever is necessary to protect the party. You can’t be jumping from one party to another,” the governor said.
