Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed concern over the recent abduction at a church in Enugu State, declaring that no Nigerian can genuinely claim to be safe amid the country’s worsening security situation.
Reacting to the incident, Obi said the attack was another indication of the growing insecurity confronting the nation, urging the Federal Government to take decisive steps to protect lives and property.
He lamented the increasing cases of kidnappings, killings and violent attacks across different parts of the country, warning that places of worship and other public spaces are no longer immune to criminal activities.
According to Obi, the safety of citizens should remain the government’s foremost responsibility, stressing that urgent action is needed to restore public confidence in the nation’s security architecture.
He called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue those abducted and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
