Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has raised concerns over the ₦12.8 trillion allocated to the Service-Wide Vote (SWV) in the 2026 Appropriation Act, calling for greater transparency in the management of public funds.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the allocation represents a significant increase compared to the previous year’s budget and questioned the rationale behind the provision.

He argued that the Federal Government should provide a detailed explanation of how the funds would be spent, including the agencies responsible for managing the allocation.

The former presidential candidate also questioned the personnel allocation under the Service-Wide Vote, saying Nigerians deserve clarity on the beneficiaries and the legal framework guiding the expenditure.

Atiku called on the National Assembly to conduct a thorough review of the allocations under the Service-Wide Vote, insisting that public spending should remain transparent and accountable.
