Nollywood actress Mo Bimpe has responded to criticism over a viral video showing her interacting with fellow actor Jide Awobona at a recent event.
The video, which circulated on social media, showed Bimpe and Awobona engaged in a conversation, with the actress resting her arm on the actor’s shoulder while they looked at her phone.
The interaction attracted comments from some social media users, with some questioning the nature of the exchange and how her husband, actor Lateef Adedimeji, appeared to react.
Reacting to the criticism, Bimpe said the one-minute clip had been subjected to unnecessary public analysis.
She described the interaction as a normal conversation between friends and questioned why it had been interpreted as suspicious.
Bimpe said marriages were built on different foundations, adding that hers was based on “trust, friendship, respect and confidence.”
She also dismissed suggestions that her interaction with Awobona posed a threat to her marriage.
“Not every marriage is toxic, there are still healthy marriages but I understand if you can’t relate,” the actress said.
Bimpe added that her husband was “a secure man” and would not consider a brief conversation with a family friend a threat to their relationship.
She urged members of the public to avoid drawing conclusions about her marriage from brief clips taken out of context.
