Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has said that many Nigerian celebrities struggle to evolve after attaining fame because they do not know when to step away from a particular image or phase of their careers.
Speaking during a recent interview, the actor reflected on his own journey in the entertainment industry and explained that personal growth requires knowing when to leave behind old personas.
“Not knowing when to exit the stage is a problem a lot of us are having in entertainment,”
Jim Iyke noted that he intentionally moved away from the “bad boy” image that once defined much of his public identity, adding that the decision helped him develop in other areas of life and career.
According to him, celebrities who fail to reinvent themselves often become trapped by the expectations of the public and the image that first brought them fame.
The actor said growth and relevance in the entertainment industry depend on the ability to evolve with time rather than remain attached to a single persona.
Jim Iyke, who has been active in Nollywood for more than two decades, is regarded as one of the industry’s most prominent actors and has featured in numerous local and international film productions.
