The Lagos State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation (Amendment) Bill into law, approving changes to the state’s budget for the year.
The amendment followed a request by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reorder some allocations in the ₦4.4 trillion 2026 budget, with priority given to key capital projects.
The Assembly also approved the issuance of a ₦200 billion bond under the state’s existing ₦1 trillion Debt and Hybrid Instruments Issuance Programme.
The bond is expected to provide funding for major infrastructure projects across the state.
Among the projects listed are the second phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line, the new Massey Street Children’s Hospital, the 280-bed General Hospital in Ojo and the Ketu-Ejinrin Psychiatric Hospital.
The amended budget also places attention on environmental projects, including drainage and coastal infrastructure.
The governor had sought the budget reordering to enable the state to focus more resources on priority projects and interventions during the remaining months of the 2026 fiscal year.
The Assembly’s approval clears the way for the Lagos State Government to implement the revised spending plan and proceed with the approved financing arrangements.
