Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to make public any records it holds concerning President Bola Tinubu.
Atiku made the call amid renewed attention to documents relating to the Nigerian president and the FBI.
He urged the US agency not to withhold information that could be of public interest to Nigerians, stressing the importance of transparency.
The former vice president said Nigerians had the right to know the contents of any records concerning their president where disclosure was permitted by law.
Atiku’s call comes amid ongoing political exchanges over Tinubu’s past and records held by foreign institutions.
He has repeatedly raised questions about issues surrounding the President’s past, while Tinubu and his supporters have dismissed such claims as politically motivated.
The development comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election continue to intensify, with Atiku among the opposition figures seeking to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress.
