Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, has released the names of 36 students who remain in Boko Haram captivity after gunmen attacked the school on Monday.

The students were abducted while sitting for the ongoing National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination.

They were taken alongside some teachers during the attack.

According to the school, the abducted candidates comprise 25 females and 11 males.

The release of their identities comes as security agencies and authorities intensify efforts to secure their release.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, with support from the Nigerian Air Force, launched a pursuit operation shortly after the attack.

The troops reportedly tracked the fleeing insurgents into nearby bushes and engaged them in a gun battle.

Meanwhile, the Borno State Government has confirmed that the abducted students are between the ages of 15 and 18.
