The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has alleged that some individuals are seeking ways to prevent former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
Ayodele made the claim in a statement warning opposition politicians about what he described as possible attempts to frustrate their political ambitions.
The cleric alleged that efforts were being made to “eliminate” Obi and Atiku from the 2027 race, although he did not identify those he accused of being behind the alleged plot.
He advised the two politicians to remain vigilant and strengthen their political structures ahead of the election.
Ayodele also urged opposition figures to unite if they wanted to mount a strong challenge in 2027.
According to him, the political environment ahead of the election would be difficult for opposition candidates and would require strategic planning.
He warned that internal disagreements among opposition politicians could weaken their chances at the polls.
The cleric further called on Atiku and Obi to pay attention to developments within their respective political camps and avoid actions that could create divisions.
His comments come amid ongoing realignments among opposition politicians as political parties and potential presidential candidates prepare for the 2027 general elections.
