Nigerian music star Burna Boy has become the African artist with the highest number of monthly listeners in Spotify history after reaching 46.84 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform.

The achievement sees the Grammy-winning singer surpass the previous record of 46.58 million monthly listeners set by South African star Tyla.

The feat comes amid the global success of Dai Dai, the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which Burna Boy recorded with Colombian singer Shakira.

The song has enjoyed widespread popularity and significantly boosted his streaming numbers.

The latest milestone further cements Burna Boy’s status as one of Africa’s biggest music exports and marks another major achievement in his international career.
