Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has withdrawn from the Brazil squad for the upcoming international friendlies due to injury.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed on Wednesday that the striker will miss the matches against Australia and India.
Fluminense midfielder Martinelli has been called up by head coach Carlo Ancelotti to replace the injured Chelsea forward.
The nature and severity of Joao Pedro’s injury have not been disclosed.
His withdrawal comes after he earned a recall to the Brazil national team following his omission from Ancelotti’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Chelsea striker was also named the Premier League Player of the Month for August after scoring two goals and providing two assists in the club’s opening two league matches.
Joao Pedro played the full 90 minutes and scored in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Hull City last weekend.
Chelsea have not yet confirmed the extent of the injury.
Brazil are scheduled to face Australia and India during the upcoming international window.
