Patrick Emerald Iruoghene, professionally known as Emeizy, traces his journey into music to his upbringing in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Although music was always part of his childhood, becoming a musician was not initially part of his plans. He recalls a conversation with his mother when he was about six or seven years old, when she asked her children what they wanted to become. While his siblings had different ambitions, Emeizy admitted that he did not yet know.
His mother jokingly suggested that he could become a musician because of his tendency to do things differently, a comment that would later take on a deeper meaning.
According to Emeizy, the defining moment came years later when he faced a difficult experience involving the police while preparing for his WAEC examinations. During his time at the station, he sang along to Bob Marley songs, inspired by his father’s love for the legendary reggae musician.
A family friend noticed his singing and remarked that he sang like his father. At the same time, Emeizy witnessed how deeply his situation affected his father and family.
That experience made him reflect on his father’s own abandoned dream of becoming a musician. He eventually decided to pursue music, turning what started as childhood admiration into a serious creative journey.
