Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed that she rejected several lucrative offers linked to politics because accepting them could have compromised her principles.
The actress disclosed this while speaking on the Afropolitan podcast, where she reflected on some of the financial opportunities she had turned down throughout her career.
According to Omotola, some of the offers could have made her a billionaire, but she chose to walk away rather than compromise her beliefs.
She explained that although some of the opportunities did not appear to be outright wrong, she believed accepting them could eventually weaken the values and message she represents.
Omotola said she had been in situations where she could have accepted huge financial rewards without people knowing that she had compromised her position.
She, however, maintained that she repeatedly chose to reject such offers, including those involving politics.
“I would have taken things and compromised my stance. But I would turn it down and walk away. Many times. Even in politics,” she said.
The actress added that some of the offers were tempting because they did not initially appear harmful, but she eventually declined them because they could undermine her foundation and belief system.
“Sometimes, I am tempted to compromise because they don’t appear bad, but I would still walk away eventually. Because in the long run, it will dilute my message,” she said.
