The Lagos State Government has advised motorists using the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to plan their journeys as repair works on the Kara Bridge are set to begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
The Federal Ministry of Works is scheduled to repair damaged expansion joints on the bridge, with the exercise expected to last two weeks.
The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation said the repairs would affect traffic movement along the busy corridor and urged motorists to allow extra time for their journeys.
To minimise disruption, one half of the affected section will be closed at a time, while traffic will be managed in both directions on the remaining open section.
The state government appealed to motorists to cooperate with traffic management officials and exercise patience throughout the repair period.
The Kara Bridge is located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, one of the major routes connecting Lagos with Ogun State and other parts of the country.
The repair works are expected to temporarily slow traffic around the corridor, particularly during peak travel periods.
The government said the intervention was necessary to address the damaged expansion joints and improve the condition of the bridge.
