Carrick expressed frustration with his side’s inability to manage the game after taking the lead, pointing to poor decisions as a major factor behind the result.
The draw leaves Manchester United with four points from their opening three league matches, while Everton remain unbeaten with five points.
The result will be particularly disappointing for United, who appeared on course for their second league victory of the season before Everton’s late equaliser.
