The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has criticised politicians who rely on godfathers, wealthy backers and political parties they did not build to pursue their ambitions.
Sowore made the remarks in a social media post while defending the AAC and highlighting what he described as the party’s grassroots foundation.
He questioned why politicians who believe they have strong support continue to move from one political party to another during election periods instead of building their own political movements.
Sowore also criticised politicians who attempt to persuade supporters to abandon political platforms they have built and join other parties.
He challenged such politicians to demonstrate the popularity of their ideas by organising and mobilising Nigerians without depending on wealthy individuals or established political structures.
“If their ideas are so compelling, let them organize. If their platforms are so popular, let them mobilize. If their politics is so powerful, let them build,” he said.
The AAC candidate said his party was built through the contributions and sacrifices of its members and supporters rather than being established to serve the interests of wealthy political figures.
“We built ours with our sweat and blood. Let them build theirs,” Sowore added.
