Former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has described the 2027 general election as a contest between oppressed Nigerians and those responsible for their oppression.

Kwankwaso, who is the presidential running mate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), made the statement while speaking about the political situation ahead of the 2027 election.

He said the election would provide Nigerians with an opportunity to decide who should lead the country amid the economic and social challenges confronting citizens.

According to him, Nigerians who have continued to bear the effects of poor governance would have the opportunity to use their votes to demand change.

Kwankwaso also criticised the country’s political leadership over the difficulties faced by ordinary Nigerians, arguing that the 2027 election would be a crucial moment for citizens.

He urged Nigerians to remain focused on issues affecting their welfare and the future of the country as political activities intensify ahead of the poll.

His comments come amid growing political realignments and preparations by political parties and opposition groups ahead of the 2027 general election.
